Why the Need for a Family Intervention
Simply stated, interventions work because when they are conducted early enough, they can be up to 96% successful when a licensed professional interventionist is involved. Family intervention may or may not always be received positively by the individual with the problem, or the other individuals in their immediate surroundings. However, the bottom line is that the goal of any intervention is to show the individual that they are truly cared for as well as wanting to save their lives.
An Overview of Family Interventions
The most important aspect of helping an individual realize that they may have a problem and getting them to admit it, as well as having them seek help for their addiction, is getting them to seek out help for their addiction. The harsh reality is that any type of addiction, substance or otherwise, not only damages the individual emotionally, mentally, and physically, but negatively affects their family members, friends, and loved ones as well. This has necessitated the use of family interventions.
Research into the subject has shown that it is the family members, friends, and loved ones who have the most significant impact on whether or not the addicted individual admits to having a problem and then seeks help for it. Between the licensed interventionist and all those people who are closest to the addicted individual, this creates a cohesive intervention unit capable of seeing to it that the person does seek help for their addiction.
It’s a known fact that these family members, friends, and loved ones of the addicted individual are the ones who suffer the most from the addicted individual’s behavior. This behavior results in the most damage to the close people around them therefore, family intervention can play a significant role in changing the addicted individual’s behavior. The individual’s substance abuse and addiction, as well as their broken promises to seek help typically results in these family members, friends, and loved ones becoming victimized by the individual’s behavior.

Usually, a family intervention not only helps the addicted individual to admit that they have a problem and need to seek help for it, but it also helps family, friends, and loved ones as well.
